Charles Eberline on May 14, 2022:

A brief paragraph dated March 12 in a column on Davenport, Iowa, in The Musical Critic and Trade Review, March 20, 1882, reported the purchase of the organ: "The members of the Congregational church held a fair last week for the purpose of raising money to help pay for the new organ they are buying from the Moline Pipe Organ Co. Their old one was destroyed by fire about two months ago." ("Their old one," an 1875 Lancashire & Turner organ, was destroyed in a fire on the night of December 9–10, 1881, that severely damaged the church.) The Moline Review-Dispatch published three brief notes on the organ in July 1882: "The Moline Pipe Organ Co. have finished the large, handsome organ for the Edwards Congregational church of Davenport, and it will be placed in that edifice in a few days." (July 14); "The Pipe Organ Co. [sic] have just placed in the Edwards' Congregational church of Davenport, a handsome organ, and a grand concert is to be given on Friday evening to allow all the members to listen to sweet melody as produced by the pipe organ." (July 21); "Davenport people are much pleased with the new pipe organ just placed in the Edwards Congregational church of that city, by the Moline Pipe Organ Co. A grand concert was given on Friday evening, and is soon to be repeated." (July 28).
