NOTES
This was the installation of a used, 3-man. Balcom and Vaughan console
from First Free Methodist in Seattle, which itself had been upgraded to a
solid state combination action by Peterson. The Möller drawknob console,
while of quarter-sawn oak and beautiful, had come to the end of its
useful life. Electrical contacts for notes, couplers, and even pistons
were all breaking at an increasing rate, and the expense to convert it to
solid state was not cost-effective. It was also too big to allow it to be
re-oriented in the space allowed for the console. The Balcom and Vaughan
console was purchased inexpensively and refurbished with new engraved
rocker tablets as required.
A new Syndyne relay was used to operate the switching for the organ. This
new relay allowed some opportunities to enlarge the stoplist by eight
additional speaking stops not previously present. The organ is also now
MIDI compatible and has a sequencer to allow record and playback.
