NOTES
The Johnson was originally built for the Congregational Church in Chester,
CT. It was installed here used in 1909 by the Hall Organ Co.
The Estey work involved electrifying the organ on new windchests, removing
the old keydesk and providing a new console, and a few tonal changes. The
Great 8' Open Diapason was replaced with new rank – the original becoming
a Pedal unit. The Johnson Swell 8' Keraulophon became the 8' Voix Celeste.
The new 8' Salicional replaced the 4' Harmonic Flute and had Haskelled
basses. And although the console said the Swell 4' stop was a 4' Harmonic
Flute, the actual pipes were the Johnson 4' Fugara pipes.
Mr. Douglas' work entailed a new Klann console, and augmentation of the
stoplist – mostly the Pedal – utilizing existing pipework. Sadly, it also
entailed the destruction and disposal of the handsome, original 1973 Wm. A.
Johnson casework.
The Great 16' Rohr Gedeckt borrowed its first 32 notes from the Estey-added
Pedal 16' Gedeckt [Bass], and the remainder from the 4' Rohr Flöte (original
Flute d'Amour). The Pedal 8' Gedeckt also borrowed from the Pedal and Great,
and the 4' Rohr Flote was a direct borrow from the Great.
