NOTES
The church's first pipe organ was a used, 1-manual, 5-rank Wurlitzer piano
pit organ with six ranks and 337 pipes on an 88-key piano. The pedals were
only notes. The pit organ also had chimes.
The Estey organ was originally installed for the builder by Balcom and Vaughan,
who also removed the organ and e-installed it in the new [present] church. As
originally installed the organ was in chambers on either side of the crossing
in front of the church, and had a large façade of gold dummy pipes in front
of each chamber enclosure.
The inaugural recital was performed by University of Washington organ pro-
fessor Walter A. Eichinger on Sunday, March 20, 1949 at 5:00 p.m.
The organ has many Haskelled basses: the Pedal 16'/8' Diapason, 1-24; the
Great 8' Diapason, 1-12; the Great 8' Melodia, 1-11; the Great 8' Dulciana,
1-12; the Swell 8' Diapason, 1-12, and the Swell 8' Salicional, 1-12.
The Pedal 16' Lieblich Gedeckt is the same as the 16' Bourdon, but on soft
wind.
The Swell 8' Diapason has been transposed to 4' pitch. It is not known who
did this or when.
