George Jardine was born November 1. 1800 in Dartford, Kent, England. He was the brother of John Jardine, and father of Edward G., Dudley, Frederick W., and Joseph P. Jardine.
George apprenticed with Flight & Robson of London, England. He worked with Joseph W. Walker of London, England prior to immigrating to the United States in 1837.
Jardine began his American career with Firth, Hall & Pond1 of New York City, New York. At some point, he formed his own firm and began making barrel organs. Later he began building church organs with his sons Dudley and Edward G.; Frederick and Joseph Jardine in New York City, New York.2 George Jardine died February 12, 1882 in New York City, buried at Trinity Church, New York City.
