Born in Germany; son of Moritz Baumgarten Sr.; with Walcker firm of Ludwigsburg, Germany; in Berlin; immigrated to the United States. c. 1860; with father in New Haven, Connecticut, c. 1867; with Hook & Hastings of Boston, Massachusetts, late 1870s, became head voicer; with E. W. Lane of Waltham, Massachusetts, 1898; died 1900 in Waltham, Massachusetts.
