Born January 14, 1936 in Boston, Massachsetts; he attended the University of Vermont, 1955–1959; He started with Andover Organ Co., Methuen, Massachusetts, 1962–1966; with Berkshire Organ Co. of West Springfield, Massachusetts. He was associated with the Organ Clearing House of Harrisville, New Hampshire; associated with Watersmith Pipe Organs of Enfield, New Hampshire. He was also a teacher of English in public and private schools; author, historian, organist, editor and publisher of the Boston Organ Club Newsletter from July, 1965. He operated a reed organ service firm by 1988; active 1995.

Edgar A. Boadway Jr. died at home in Claremont, New Hampshire, on June 29, 2016. He was a founding member of the Organ Historical Society and the first secretary of the board of directors. He wrote the first set of bylaws for the organization. He was instrumental in establishing the OHS Archives, and was the first person to index all of the old tracker organs in a given state. He was elevated to honorary membership in 2013.
