The John Bergstrom firm of San Francisco became John Bergstrom & Sons around 1879 when his two sons became part of the firm. The senior Bergstrom retired circa 1900, but the name remained unchanged until the firm closed in 1907. The Bergstroms had installed several organs in Hawaii, and the sons decided to move there. Once settled, the Bergstrom brothers opened a music store rather than an organ building concern.
