Updated through online information from Rodney J. Weed. -- During a second visit to this organ on 8-29-2012 I was able to remove a side panel and the panel behind the music rack. Both of these panels had written on them in pencil #88 so I am assuming this is the opus number for this instrument.
Updated through online information from Rodney J. Weed. -- This database update is based on a personal visit by me to the church on August 22, 2012 and a copy of "The Hinners & Albertson Pipe Organ First Church of Christ, Scientist, Marinette, Wisconsin A Proposal for Refurbishment by J.C. Taylor & Co., Organbuilders, Kaukauna, WI" The organ is in danger of being lost as an Historical Organ. The Church building was just sold (closing on September 18, 2012) ... for use as an Art Gallery. The organ was included in the sale of the building, but [the purchaser] wants the space it occupies. He plans to sell the organ. At this time it is not known if such a sale would preserve the organ or if he just wants it out. The organ has been very well maintained by the Church since they acquired it in 1901 with the exception of the removal of the 4' Principal and the 8' Oboe and the addition of the 8' Gamba and 8' Vox Humana both of unknown origin. In 1977 the J.C. Taylor & Co., Organbuilders, Kaukauna, WI "releathered and refitted the Swell pallets, patched cracks in the pallet seats, and renutted and rebushed the Pedal action." "In 1982 J.C. Taylor releathered the Great windchest pallets-cleaning and repairing the pallet seats, renutted and rebushed the Great Key action, installed a new used blower and wind trunk, replaced the motor coupling grid, and installed an intake filter." At a date unknown but after 1982, J.C. Taylor did the additional work of removing the reservoir from the organ, releathered as original. The organ as played today (8-22-12) was very smooth in its action and for the most part everything was working quite well.
Altered.
