Andrew Henderson on January 16th, 2026:
From the Elmira Daily Advertiser (December 9, 1867): "The organ contains two full manuals of fifty-eight notes each, compass from C C to A, inclusive, and a Pedal Organ of two and one-third octaves, or twenty-nine notes C C C to E ... The organ is so arranged that some other stops may be added in the Swell and Pedal Organs. It is one of the most powerful in the State, and by far the finest and largest in this section of the country, being one of the few organs in the United States having more than fifty-six keys from CC to G, and more than two octaves of Pedals. The workmanship is pronounced by the best judges to be perfect. The case is of solid oak, and was designed by the organist, Mr. Sprague, and is very unique and beautiful. The carpenter work was done by Mr. Dounes, of our city, who is unexcelled as a workman."
