Database Manager on March 24th, 2013:

This entry describes alterations to an existing organ.
Identified by Martha Clark, based on personal knowledge of the organ.
-- The instrument retains its original console with ivory and ebony keys in an 1866 Gothic Revival church. The organ case with pipe facade centers the chancel and graduates downward symmetrically from a central 16' pipe. The console sits "stage right" of the pulpit in the corner behind the forward-facing choir. The instrument was refurbished and renovated ca.1974 by Eugene Ward. It was serviced by Miller Pipe Organ Co. until 2001 when Webber-Borne assumed care and maintenance of the instrument. At this moment the organ awaits the addition of an additional rank of pipes and repairs to the electrical system and wind chest. Historically prominent 19th century photographer, Kate Matthews, took many photos of the sanctuary and organ before the present instrument was installed. These pictures may be viewed online in the University of Louisville Potter Collection of historic photographs.
