Database Manager on January 15th, 2016:

Originally a 3/11 built in 1926 for the Orpheum Theatre, Galesburg, Illinois. Moved in 1964 to John Near's parents' rural home outside Galesburg, where it was reassembled over the years. When it became necessary for the instrument to be removed, Dr. Near searched for a suitable home for his beloved organ, and donated the organ to the Grand Theatre in Fitzgerald, Georgia. A.E. Schlueter Pipe Organ Company was selected to remove, rebuild and install the organ. The organ has been enlarged to 18 ranks. R. Jelani Eddington played the inaugural concert on March 26, 2011.
