Database Manager on August 23rd, 2016:
This is a rebuild of an existing organ. Identified by Rev. Larry Covington, based on personal knowledge of the organ. Wicks Opus 5005 installed new in 1970 was fitted with a rebuilt 4-man. A-S console in 2000. The console retains the original manuals covered in ivory but houses updated switching and combination action. In 1996 the switching system was replaced by Peterson. The original configuration of the exposed wind chests was altered as part of a sanctuary renovation. At this time Ballard Pipe Organs tripled the size of the organ adding an enclosed solo division and pipework from various sources including the Moller organ of 1951 from St. Matthew Cathedral in Wash. D.C. as well as Cavaille-Coll ranks purchased from Pascal Boissonet. Other builders are represented by AEolian-Skinner, Kilgen, Pilcher, Flentrop and Moller. Walker Technical provided digital additions in 2005 and 2013.
