Jim Stettner on October 11th, 2020:
Updated through online information from Hugh French, Tides Museum Director, -- The Schlicker organ that we have is in the former sanctuary space of the Tides Institute & Museum of Art's 1819 North Church building located at 82 High Street in Eastport, Maine. This Schlicker organ was originally built in 1961 for American sculptor, Richard Lippold, of Locust Valley, New York and is listed in your database. After the artist's death, the organ was disassembled and placed in storage in a warehouse located in Brooklyn, New York. We learned of the existence of the organ in 2016 and we purchased the disassembled organ in November, 2016 from Lawrence Trupiano of Mann & Trupiano and had it transported to Eastport, Maine. In the spring of 2018 we had the organ reassembled in our North Church building. The inaugural concerts using the organ at the North Church were performed by organist, James David Christie, on July 14 and 15, 2018. The organ still is in need of some improvements and we are hoping to have these completed in 2021 and 2022.
