From The Windsor Star (December 23, 1935): "The St. Paul's organ was formerly installed in the Palace Theatre and was removed, earlier in the year, because it was considered useless. Mr. Hammerton had it delievered to his home, however, and he worked on it in his spare time for months. Then he moved it to St. Paul's Church, of which he is a member, where he proceeded with his labor. Now he announces that the organ will play again. It has been a labor of love for Mr. Hammerton. It is reported that he has lost 14 pounds since tackling the job--but that doesn't matter much to Mr. Hammerton, since his efforts have been rewarded with unqualified success."

The builder of the organ originally installed in the Allen (later Palace) Theatre was not identified in the local press at the time, but was undoubtedly made by Hillgreen, Lane & Co. owing to the large number of Allen Theatre contracts in Canada and the US with this builder.
