From The Daily Spectator (Hamilton, December 29, 1883): "It has been earnestly hoped by the congregation of St. Patrick's Church that the new organ built by L. Mitchell, of Montreal, for the church, would be in place and ready for use on Jan. 1. The hopes, however, are not to be realized. The parts were shipped from Montreal in two cars. One car arrived here on Wednesday or Thursday of last week, and Mr. Mitchell and his son have been here putting the parts up. The other car, however, did not arrive, and, although numerous telegrams have been sent to different stations, no traces of it can be had. Several of the parts of the organ arrived on different cars, however, and were forwarded to the church, but still the essential parts are wanting, and some accident is feared. It is to be hoped that such is not the case, and that the congregation will soon have the excellent instrument which they have long waited for."
