This instrument was the first ever pipe organ installed in Fargo, ND. As Gethsemane's neighboring congregation, St. John the Divine Episcopal Church in Moorhead, MN installed their first pipe organ (also the first ever pipe organ installed in Moorhead) at the same time, it is possible that Gethsemane purchased their organ from the same builder. St. John's organ was said to have come from Westfield, MA, strongly indicating William A. Johnson as its builder, which may indicate Johnson as the builder of Gethsemane's organ as well. This organ was also said to be the first two-manual pipe organ ever installed in the state of North Dakota.
