Pilcher Op. 440 installed in 1902; rebuilt and enlarged by Pilcher in 1937 as Op. 1829; replaced in 1985 by 3/53 Schlicker, retaining the case, Pilcher console shell and some Pilcher pipework.

Database Manager on July 16th, 2008:

Identified through information from Dennis Huthnance -- Uses case, console shell, and two sets of pipes (vox humana and a pedal stop) from the 1903 Pilcher.

Database Manager on July 24th, 2005:

Online update from Dennis Huthnance -- The mechanical action was replaced by an electro-pneumatic action in the 1930s. This Pilcher instrument was damaged by a violent storm in the late 1960s and the Great division became unplayable. In 1984 it was decided to replace the instrument by a new organ built by Schlicker. The original Pilcher organ case and console were retained in the new instrument along with the entire Vox Humana and several of the pedal division pipes.
